Murdoch Retreat

Well I have been getting a little behind on my blog posts it seems. The weekend before this last weekend we went to a retreat at Camp of the Cascades in Yelm, Washington put on by the Murdoch foundation. In June we found out that for this year we have received a grant from the Murdoch foundation which helped with some of our funding - what a blessing! All ministry interns who received a grant were to attend this retreat as part of the deal. There were probably over 100 different interns from different ministries in attendance. It was wonderful to hear more about the Murdoch foundation throughout the weekend and to think more about the vision and call God has placed on our hearts. Over and over we kept coming back to the idea that wherever we are, whether in full time ministry or not our call is to advance the gospel and that is certainly what we are praying for here at OSU.

Stephen, Lisa, Morgan, David, Wendy, Keith

Another big perk of the weekend was that we got to spend time with the two other EDGE Corps members doing ministry here in the Northwest, Wendy from UW and David from U of O. It was great to get to know them and hear what God is doing on their campuses. Stephen and I were also excited to see Jim Eney (a long time family friend and the person who married us!)and my little brother Kevin who is on Student Staff with Young Life and received a Murdoch Grant as well. We had such a great time seeing those close to us and also meeting a ton of new people who are doing God's work all over the Northwest. How cool is it that God is using so many people in such different and unique ways to advance His Kingdom? We love it!

Sister and Brother - I have no idea why I'm smiling quite so big!

Jump

Fraternity recruitment was last week. Stephen was able to do some of the recruitment events with the guys which was fun. The week culminated on Sunday morning with an event called Jump. Each new recruit would come out of the Memorial Union building when their name was called and then literally jump onto the fraternity they chose to join. It was really fun to watch the whole process and see the new guys joining the house.

This week was another great week for us. We had an awesome Greekside Navnight again this Tuesday evening and talked about worldviews. Morgan and I made 5 pies for the event and we had about 30 people again. This week we had many more guys there as it is sorority recruitment this week and last week we had more girls because of fraternity recruitment so who knows how many we will have next week! I'm making the dessert next week so I have to think of something good to make for lots of people (any ideas?)! There are a fair amount of students coming to Greekside from other faith backgrounds (Muslim, Hindu etc) so we are excited to see what God will do.

We also started bible studies this week and we have about 8-10 students each in four different bible studies. We are excited to see how God will use these studies to grow these students in their relationship with Christ.
